A Story of Two Continents

Nearly one hundred years ago in Mondovì, a small characteristic city in the north of Italy lived a man named Francesco Comino, my grandfather. Francesco had a shop and he sold coffee. Plagued with supply and quality problems, Francesco began roasting and blending his own coffee to sell in his shop. He soon found that his own coffee was much better than the coffee he had been purchasing, and it was always fresh. Guided by his good taste, he developed many of his own blends and a very special roasting technique to bring out qualities in the roast that his sharp palate had discerned. Francesco Comino started roasting coffee long before I was born. I can still smell the fragrance from the shop's roaster carried by the cool crisp morning air. He was a tall man who trusted his keen sense of smell and his palate. He knew his trade, and he knew coffee. Today, Francesco's old roaster is still in our shop. It reminds us of the pride and craftsmanship that he blended and roasted into every single batch of coffee. Our Roots.

Gentle rolling hills adorned by vineyards set against the distant canvas of the Ligurian Alps. A land where towns are often perched upon the hilltops, and rivers run clean from springs high up in the mountains. Mondovì, Cuneo and Alba are located in Piedmont, one of the northern regions of Italy. This area is the home of some of the world's finest wines, truffles and of our own a secular coffee roasting and blending tradition.

My grandfather Francesco taught me that excellence is key to all good and worthwhile endeavors. For that reason we use only the best roasters, the best coffee and the best practices in the industry. The quality of the coffee in your cup depends on it and that's not something I take lightly. That is why at Francesco's Coffee Company we say:
